Miami-Dade Schools Getting Critical Response Mapping
The Critical Response Group (CRG) has signed on to implement its critical incident mapping technology in the Miami-Dade County Public School District’s (M-DCPS) 573 schools.
CRG will locate, name and map every school building in the district and provide a digital product to local first responders to ensure an effective and efficient response in the event of an emergency by having correct and accurate maps.
It’s common for law enforcement or other first responders to find when they try to enter a building, perhaps for a violent event, that the floor plans are old and out of date and the names of the buildings are different in reality from what the floor plan says.
That will be remedied for M-DCPS with the CRG mapping, putting first responders and school personnel on the same page.
The CRG mapping techniques were developed using best practices from U.S. special operations forces operating in chaotic environments. These methodologies yield precise, accurate floor maps for every school and building.
“Most schools have multiple security layers in place, but the first layer often overlooked is having accurate emergency maps readily available to first responders,” Guillermo Muñoz, principal at M-DCPS, said in a statement. “CRG’s mapping technology ensures that police, paramedics and EMTs can navigate our school campuses with precision, significantly reducing response times during emergencies.”
The mapping will be compatible with security platforms, mobile apps, Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) systems and other public safety software used by local first responders, who will be able to view the same maps as school personnel and communicate and collaborate among other first responders.
